Wellness Model |
Recovery Model |
The wellness model and the therapies associated with it promotes an individualized focus on living better. This means that people being treated under this model will examine interactions between food and they way they think and feel as well as whether or not medications are being taken appropriately or are working as expected. The wellness model often times results in a type of life satisfaction that is present when people are actively managing stress, keeping an eye on important things and enjoying the things they are doing. People who are searching for change under the wellness model will see improved relationships with doctors and other healthcare providers, be proactive about treatment and spend time researching and doing what feels good, what works as well as what is healthy for them.

When people first see the words “Recovery Model”, they automatically think addiction or substance use. This is part of the story. The Recovery model starts with the basic assumption that all people can experience recovery from their current pattern of suffering or malcontent. People who have survived single episode or complex trauma can RECOVER from the demoralizing and fearful experiences associated with being triggered. People with depression can RECOVER from the impact of feeling depressed. People can RECOVER from the lies they are told by painful thoughts and feelings and irrational guilt. The recovery model assumes that if what you have been through has not killed you yet, you can RECOVER.

Holism
Holism is the beleif that each component that makes up the entirety
of something, is inextricably connected to and necessary for
proper and expected functioning. Within the context of this treatment
approach, Holism means that all of the parts of yourself are important and
connected, so any work that is done in therapy is done with an entire person,
family, or group in mind. Mental, Physical, spiritual, social, professional and anything else that you identify will be important in the therapy setting.
